Miel Pangilinan Lambasts Website For Labeling Her Lesbian

Miel Pangilinan Corrects Website Who Labeled Her Lesbian

Miel Pangilinan, daughter of actress Sharon Cuneta and politician Kiko Pangilinan, lambasted a website for spreading inaccurate information about her s*xuality.

Miel Pangilinan recently revealed that she is a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community.

In an IG post on Tuesday, June 14, the 17-year-old student shared photos of herself twirling around with a rainbow flag. In the caption, Miel expressed how thankful she is for being able to finally celebrate her identity this year.

Miel Pangilinan also shared some of the difficulties she encountered as a kid. She also showed some empathy towards the other LGBTQ+ members who were not able to celebrate their identity safely and openly.

Her siblings Frankie Pangilinan and KC Concepcion showed their support in the comment section of her post. Miel’s parent also penned their own messages to express their support for their daughter’s coming out.

After announcing that she’s queer, Miel Pangilinan took to her social media account to correct a website that labeled her as being a lesbian in their article. On her IG stories, she reposted the headline about her which read “Anak ni Megastar na si Miel Pangilinan nag-out as lesbiyana ngayong Pride Month.”

Miel called out the side for making an assumption that she’s a lesbian. She wrote, “This is incorrect. I am not a lesbian, nor have I claimed to be. I stated specifically on the post that I am queer— and unless stated otherwise don’t just make assumptions that I’m a lesbian based on the fact that I came out or that I held a pride flag. Please inform yourselves. If I was a lesbian I would have said I was a lesbian.”

Miel Pangilinan asked the site to delete their post and reminded them to research more before sharing inaccurate information.

“I am queer. queer ≠ lesbian. If you’re going to inform people, inform yourself first. and at least give my post a proper read-through before making a post about it. It’s pride month. If you’re going to make a post reporting about a person’s whole IDENTITY, I should hope that you get it right. please. there are more identities than lesbian and gay lol.”

“I also don’t NEED to talk about the boundaries and extents and specifics of my attraction/identity. It’s extremely personal and the fact that it’s something I need to clarify despite the including the statement that I am queer in my post is just upsetting. Identity is personal and if you’re going to report on it please stick to the source lmaoo.”
