Policeman and Armed Suspect Both Died During Encounter

A policeman and an armed suspect both died during an intense shootout at the town of Nabunturan in Davao de Oro.

According to the police investigation, a civilian sought help from the police authorities after the suspect pointed a gun at its sibling in Purok 4, Barangay Magsaysay last Wednesday early morning (May 25, 2022).

Police Staff Sergeant Erull Millana and Police Corporal Rogelio Golo Jr. immediately respond to the incident. The police officers caught the suspects and confronted them. However, the suspects immediately escaped using a motorcycle.

The fearless cops chased the suspects identified as Boyet Casagda and John Paul Liginan. After a few moments, the culprits suddenly stopped amid the chase.

According to PNP, Millana went near the motorcycle but one of the suspects pulled out a gun and started to fire, which leads to an intense shootout. Both Millana and Casagda died after suffering gunshots during the encounter.

Unfortunately, Liginan was able to run away and escape. The police authorities have launched a manhunt operation to locate and arrest Liginan. PNP also gives tribute to honor Millana’s act of heroism.

Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office has expressed their condolences towards the family of the hero policeman. The police station also sends financial help to Millana’s family.
