MMDA Questions Parking Attendant for Asking Money From Drivers of Parked Vehicles
MMDA employees confronted a parking attendant for asking money from motorists who will park in the area.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is an agency of the Republic of the Philippines implementing the planning, monitoring and coordinative functions along the road concerning purely local matters.
The agency covers the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Malabon, Taguig, Navotas and San Juan and the municipality of Pateros.
The Facebook page “Gadget Addict” has shared the video footage of MMDA personnel confronting a parking attendant asking for money from motorists. The video goes viral and elicits comments online.
The parking attendant explained that the parking fee allegedly goes to the City Hall of Manila but the agency denied the accusations. The attendant allows motorists to park beside the road, which is strictly prohibited.
The attendant is charging P50 per day from the motorists who will park in the area. The latter explained that someone from the city collects the money. However, the parking boy refused to name the city hall employees.
MMDA traffic czar Edison ‘Bong’ Nebrija questioned the attendant’s illegal activity. He also explained that parking beside the road is strictly prohibited.
