Ping Lacson, Tito Sotto Clarify They’re Not Part of Call for Leni Robredo to Withdraw

Lacson-Sotto Tandem Made Clarification Following Manila Peninsula Presscon

LACSON, SOTTO – The tandem clarified that they are not part of the call for Vice President Leni Robredo to withdraw from the Elections 2022.

Ten candidates remain in the 2022 Presidential Election as the upcoming poll draws near. Amid the left and right issues heating up as the election fast approaches, the bets are vocal about their determination to push through their bids.

However, recently, a press conference held by three (3) presidential bets at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City made rounds on social media. During the said presscon, Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno called for Vice Pres. Leni Robredo to “be a hero” and to withdraw from the upcoming presidential race.

Presidential candidates Sen. Ping Lacson and former defense secretary Norberto Gonzales were also present at the presscon as well as vice-presidential candidates Senate President Tito Sotto and cardiologist Willie Ong.

Moreno expressed that Robredo might be the thing that is blocking the pipe. He stressed that any of the other presidential candidates which include him may substitute the Vice President who is a 2nd placer in the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey.

The statement of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno asking Vice Pres. Leni Robredo to withdraw from the 2022 Presidential Election earned negative reactions from the netizens. Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, following the presscon, the tandem of Sen. Ping Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto clarified that they are not part of the call for the Vice President to withdraw.

Sen. Sotto stressed that when Mayor Isko spoke about his call for Vice Pres. Robredo to withdraw from the race, he clarified that it was only his own opinion. Sen. Lacson stressed that they are not asking anyone to withdraw from the race and claimed that the presscon was not all about the call for the Vice President not to push through her presidential bid.

The Senator expressed his hope that the Filipino voters will not listen to misinformation that one candidate will allegedly back out from the race. He stressed that no one will withdraw and he and Sen. Sotto will push through with their bid.
