Isko Moreno Calls On Leni Robredo To Withdraw from Presidential Race 2022

Mayor Isko Moreno To Vice Pres. Leni Robredo: “Be a hero. Withdraw.”

ISKO MORENO – The Manila Mayor called on Vice President Leni Robredo to withdraw from the presidential race 2022.

Only a few weeks are left before the campaign period for the national elections 2022 is over. There are 10 candidates running for president in the upcoming election and one of them is Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, the standard-bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko.

In the result of the latest Pulse Asia survey, Moreno ranked 3rd. However, the Manila Mayor is vocal that he is not bothered by the results saying that the ones who will vote in the upcoming election are the Filipino people and not the surveys. He also stressed that he is happy seeing the smiles of the people he meets during the campaign. He congratulated the family of former Senator Bongbong Marcos for the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer’s “winning of the March survey”.

The 2nd placer in the results of the survey conducted by Pulse Asia in May is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. Her numbers went up to 24% following Marcos’ 56% in the results.

However, recently, Mayor Isko Moreno made rounds on social media following a press conference he and several other presidential and vice-presidential candidates held at the Manila Peninsula. They were pushing their belief that the one that could fight Marcos Jr.’s possible win better is probably one of the other presidential candidates and not Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Isko Moreno called for Vice Pres. Leni Robredo to withdraw from the 2022 presidential election. According to him, whatever the Vice President is doing is not effective against Marcos Jr.

“Whatever you’re [Robredo] doing is not effective against the Marcos. Withdraw. Come and join us… Ang isang tinitingnan namin, baka siya yung busal sa tubo,” Moreno said.

Moreno expressed his disbelief on Marcos Jr. getting the majority of the support of the Filipinos based on the survey. He believes that not all those who are planning to vote for Marcos Jr. are “loyalists” saying some of them probably only hates the yellows a lot.

According to Moreno, one of them, the other presidential candidates, can be the substitute if the Vice President whom he is asking to “be a hero” and withdraw from the race will quit. The call of the Manila Mayor gained negative reactions most especially from the Vice President’s supporters who cited that she is in the 2nd place while they want to push for one of them who is coming from a farther rank. Some netizens also cited that the presidential candidates are hitting the 2nd placer and not the 1st placer which they tagged unusual when compared to a contest.
