Malacañang Speaks on Measures in Some Areas in PH

Malacañang announced the shifting of the measure in more areas to Alert Level 1 starting April 9 to April15, 2022.

For more than two years now, the Philippines remains under certain restrictions in the pursuit to curb the spread of COVID-19. The virus has shaken several healthcare systems across the globe and costs a lot of lives in different countries.

PH is one of the nations that implemented strict lockdown measures amid the spread of the virus. There were months when business operations had to adapt to flexible work schemes to continue. Even some essential businesses implemented the skeletal workforce.

Most students are under distance learning until now. The delivery of the lessons is done through online classes or modules. Meanwhile, several schools are slowly adapting the resumption of face-to-face classes.

The whole Philippines remains under restrictions now. Most areas in the country including Metro Manila is currently under Alert Level 1, the loosest curb. Recently, Malacañang announced the shifting of more areas to Alert Level 1 starting April 9-15, 2022.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said that the following areas will be under Alert Level 1 starting today until April 15:

  • Mountain Province 
  • Southern Leyte
  • Misamis Oriental
  • Buguias in Benguet
  • Atimonan and Tiaong in Quezon
  • Santa Magdalena in Sorsogon
  • City of Masbate in Masbate 
  • Batad and Zarraga in Iloilo
  • City of Talisay in Cebu
  • Javier (Bugho) and La Paz in Leyte
  • Maslog in Easter Samar
  • Paranas (Wright) in Samar (Western Samar)
  • Linamon in Lanao del Norte
  • Calamba in Misamis Occidental
  • Padada in Davao del Sur 
  • Sibagat in Agusan del Sur
  • Tubajon and Cagdianao in Dinagat Islands

According to the report, areas that are not mentioned above will remain in their current alert level until the 15th of April. There are proposals to Malacañang for Alert Level 0 but President Rodrigo Roa Duterte did not approve it.

The 77-year-old President stressed that Alert Level 1 is a good buffer while there are still cases of COVID-19. He stressed the need not to be complacent to prevent the cases from spiking again.
