2 Suspected “Basag Salamin” Gang Members Arrested by the Police Authorities

The police authorities arrested two suspected “Basag Salamin” gang members for alleged gunrunning in Quezon City.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that the cops arrested two suspected members of the ‘Basag Salamin’ gang members for gunrunning in two separate operations in the town.

The first suspect identified as Aldrin Grego has been previously arrested for theft and robbery charges. He was arrested at Roosevelt Ave., in Barangay (village) San Antonio during a police operation on Wednesday (March 30).

The cops four caliber .38 revolvers, 10 ammunitions, one 9mm bullet, and four cal. 22 bullets from the 25-year-old suspect.

The second suspect has been identified as Ryan Castro who has been arrested at Barangay Apolonio Samson during a separate operation carried out by the operatives. He is also a suspected member of the basag salamin gang.

The police officers recovered a .38-caliber revolver, 13 bullets, and a motorcycle from Castro. Grego and Castro will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act.

Aside from those charges, Castrol will also face charges for violating Republic Act 10883, or The New Anti-Carnapping Law of the Philippines, and Article 304 (Possession of Picklocks or Similar Tools) of the Revised Penal Code.

The police authorities are implementing intensified anti-crime operations to maintain the peace and order before the national elections on May 9, according to NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad.
