Authorities Arrest Lady Suspect After Pretending as Dentist in Bacolod City
FAKE DENTIST – The authorities have arrested a lady suspect after pretending as a dentist in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
An 18-year-old woman named Kim desires to be more beautiful and presentable as much as possible. Her first priority was to enhance her teeth and decided to have braces. However, brace installation is quite expensive.
Someone introduced her to the lady suspect named Karen Suetado who introduced herself as a dentist. Suetado is offering cheaper price compared to other dentist. Her service is only ranging from P3, 000 to P8, 000.
However, Kim becomes suspicious of Karen after telling her that brace installation should be kept in private. “Nagulat ako na dalawa lang daw kaming dapat makaalam na brace? Doon na ako nagsuspetsa,” Kim said.
Kim also revealed that the suspect did not even sanitized her hands and she have no other tools except from a hook. After a few days, the victim’s brace got broken and she sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation in Bacolod City.
The agency launched an operation and caught Suetado installing braces to an asset. The suspect finished a degree in Commerce, which proves that she is not a licensed dentist. She just learned it on YouTube.
According to NBI, the agency is monitoring several individuals performing the same modus and pretending as dentists, which is considered as a violation of Republic 9484 or illegal practice of dentistry.
“Criminal liability ito na 2 years imprisonment up to 5 years kapag nahuli sila at meron ding babayaran na fine na not less than P200, 000 to P500, 000,” NBI said.
