Mayor Vico Slams Fake News Claiming Campaign Rally of Leni Robredo at Pasig Quadrangle
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto slammed fake news claiming that the campaign rally of VP Leni Robredo will be at Pasig Quadrangle.
The Pasig City Mayor disputed on Twitter that Robredo’s campaign event will take place in the quadrangle of Pasig City Hall. This follows the distribution of a campaign poster by Robredo with the slogan ‘Payanig sa Pasig.’

Based on the report, Robredo’s campaign team planned to hold a rally in the Pasig City quadrangle on March 20, According to Sotto, however, the said quadrangle is “not open for any political rally.”
“Not true. Pasig City Hall premises, including quadrangle, are NOT open for any political rally,” said Sotto, in connection with the news of Robredo’s activity in Pasig.
The mayor also clarified that he will not be allowed to campaign at any city hall location. Campaign organizers have been urged to stage their activities in open streets or plazas, according to Mayor Vico.
“Kahit mayor ang mag-apply, di bibigyan ng permit,” aniya. “We told those applying for a permit, try the plazas/open streets. They are the biggest spaces available, and open to all candidates,” he added.
Mayor Vico established a memorandum of understanding in December 2021 preventing campaign materials from being put on city-owned assets and public spaces. For the 2022 elections, the policy encompassed all political candidates, including ‘Giting ng Pasig,’ his squad.
Meanwhile, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto recently stated that “no candidate receives special treatment.” This was in response to a tweet from a fan of a 2022 presidential contender who expressed optimism that his city would provide a larger site for a campaign event.
