Davao De Oro Hit by Earthquake with 4.9 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Davao De Oro, March 11, 2022.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake has hit a part of Davao De Oro, March 11, 2022. At 10:14 p.m., Monkayo was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao De Oro was located at 07.86°North, 126.09°East – 005 km North 48° East of Monkayo with a depth of origin of 026 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected of the said quake and as well as aftershocks. As of this writing, the records show that the following intensities were felt in these areas:

    • Maco, Davao De Oro
    • Laak, Davao De Oro
    • Pantukan, Davao De Oro
    • Mawab, Davao De Oro
    • Compostela, Davao De Oro
    • Rosario, Agusan Del Sur
    • Boston, Davao Oriental
  • Intensity III
    • Bislig City
  • Intensity II
    • Bayugan, Agusan Del Sur
    • Davao City
    • Tagbina, Surigao Del Sur
  • Intensity I
    • Cagayan De Oro City
