AWOL Cop, Accomplice Nabbed Over Illegal Drugs Caught in Makati City
Police authorities arrested an Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) cop and his accomplice in a buy-bust operation in Makati City.
Due to illicit substances, the Southern Police District (SPD) undertook an operation that ended in the arrest of an officer who had left duty without authorization and his accused accomplice. Cpl. Ronaldo Robles, alias Thirdy, 45, was formerly posted to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, according to the report.
Meanwhile, according to SPD head Brig. General Jimili Macaraeg, his accomplice is Erwin Jenel Dela Cruz, 25, of BF Muoz, San Andres, Manila. The police initiated an anti-drug operation against the two suspects in Filmore St. Brgy. Palanan, Makati City Police said.
Dela Cruz allegedly tried to leave on a motorcycle following the deal, but he was also apprehended on Manila’s San Andres Road. Dela Cruz is accused of fleeing and attempting to draw a gun, which resulted in his injuries, prompting him to be transported to Makati Hospital.
A 59-piece package was discovered, containing shabu worth P129, 200, marked money, and a makeshift handgun with three Cal rounds. The police suspect was also found with a .38 revolver, a brown box, a coin purse, a Philippine National Police (PNP) ID, and a motorcycle.
Violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being investigated. The accused were additionally charged with resisting arrest under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code and violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions (gun ban).
