Edu Manzano is confident and believed that Presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo is qualified to be commander-in-chief of the army to protect the disputed WPS in a campaign commercial. According to Edu, the region is rich in natural resources that can feed and employ a large number of Filipinos. The status of regular Filipinos sailing in the disputed zone is now being stolen by certain nations, and fishermen are being persecuted by outsiders, according to Edu.

It will be noted that the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ruled in favor of the Philippines in 2016. On the nine-dash line, the court disregarded China’s historic rights. Despite this, China has continued to militarize the region.

Harassment of Filipino fishermen by China has also persisted. With this, Edu emphasized that the Philippines requires a leader who is prepared to fight for the country and its properties.

“Kailangan natin ipaglaban yung sa atin. At kailangan natin ng lider na handang pumalag dahil ang ‘atin ay atin,” Edu said, adding, “yun mismo ang sinabi ni VP Leni Robredo tungkol sa West Philippines Sea.”

It is also pleased of the support for Robredo’s candidacy from several former senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), who believe in his abilities and honesty. Finally, Edu stated that Robredo is capable of leading the Philippine military.
