Walden Bello Face Cyber Libel Case Filed by Sara Duterte’s Former Aide
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s former aide files a cyber libel case against Walden Bello over false accusations online.
Former Davao City information officer Jefry Tupas is suing the vice-presidential candidate for P10 million in damages after he filed a cyber libel lawsuit. Tupas said Bello falsely accused her of being a drug user and dealer on social media in her complaint to the Davao City prosecutor’s office.

He claims that he was never arrested at a beach party and that neither he nor have ever been charged with, much less convicted of any drug-related offense. He also stated that he never snorted 1.5 million pesos worth of narcotics or became a drug dealer.
Tupas became embroiled in controversy after attending a beach party in Mabini, Davao de Oro, on November 6, 2021, that was raided by drug investigators. Tupas and her pals had already left the party when the attack was organized, according to reports.
Several of those detained, on the other hand, said that he was allowed go once he revealed who he was. Tupas’ position at the municipal hall was jeopardized as a result of the scandal. Tupas was sacked for “being complicit in a raid,” according to Duterte, shortly after announcing her decision to quit on November 7.
Tupas’ allegation, on the other hand, was plainly motivated by politics, according to Bello. According to him, the move is his opponent’s attempt to divert public attention away from her “cowardice” in participating in debates.
“Basically what this Tupas thing is—which is if you look at it, it’s very silly on the face of it—is to draw attention away from ‘yung (the) cowardice ni (of) Sara Duterte not to appear in the debates because she has nothing to show or she has to answer for a questionable record,” Bello said.
