Sta. Rosa Police Arrest Man in Laguna for Not Sending Financial Support to His Kids

A man named Edman Burgos from Laguna has been arrested by the police authorities for not sending financial support to his children.

Sta. Rosa police arrest Edman Burgos on his house in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for violation of Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act. He was arrested for failing to give financial support to his ex-wife and three kids.

Burgos is among the most wanted personalities in Sta. Rosa, according to Sta. Rosa Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Paul Macasa Sabulao. He revealed that Burgos got separated with his wife in 2005.

Financial Support

Sabulao said that the last he saw Burgos was during a hearing in 2012. The cop revealed that Burgos stopped sending financial to his family after filing a retirement from his job in 2020. He is also supporting his new family.

“Itong kaso niya allegedly yung kay tatay 2005 pa yan nagkaroon sila ng di pagkakaunawaan ng kanyang asawa nagkahiwalay sila at 2012 nga daw yung huli nilang hearing nila at hindi niya alam na mayroon siyang warrant,” the cop said.

The suspect explained that his wife is asking for bigger cash aid but the latter could not afford it. He does not have an idea why his former partner filed charges against him although they have settled the issue.

“Akala ko nga tapos na yung usapan naming sa police station, yun nga akala ko stop na alam naman yung women’s desk na ganun. Hindi ko nga alam ba’t nagsampa pa rin ng reklamo,” Burgos said.
