For Tito Sotto, there is no “Marcos Revisionism”
Senate President Tito Sotto was asked about the “belief” that before the EDSA Revolution, the lives of Filipinos were better.
The Senator, who is running for vice president in the 2022 elections, stressed that “Marcos Revisionism” is not happening at all, based on the report from Inquirer.
“History is history. It has happened, nangyari na. Paano mo makakalimutan? Paano mo mabubura eh nangyari na? Iyan ang pananaw ko,” he said He added that history cannot be revised because it already happened.
“What you’re essentially doing is disinformation, hindi revising history. You will never be able to revise history,” the Senate President stressed.
Sotto also recalled the time when he wrote the song Magkaisa at the height of the EDSA Revolution. The actor-turned-politician shared that he wrote the patriotic song while witnessing the uniformed men were facing the people who were protesting against the Marcos regime.
The Senator said that he was able to finish the song for three days and that was before February 25, the day that the Marcoses were forced to leave the Malacanang and they went to Hawaii. Sen. Tito Sotto said that the late President Cory Aquino was ecstatic when he gave this song to her.
“By February 25, there was euphoria all around, kaya noong ibinigay ko ‘yung kanta kay (late) President Cory (Aquino), tuwang tuwa sila. Si Father Bob Garon was there, he brought to me all the videos that he took of what was happening, pinag-sama namin, binigay namin sa television stations that time that were starting to open again,” the vice-presidential aspirant shared. With this, he said, “You’ll never forget that.”
Meanwhile, although Sen. Tito Sotto and his running mate Sen. Ping Lacson are not leading the surveys, he said in a previous interview that he and his fellow lawmaker are the “secret” candidates of their colleagues.
