Tito Sotto reacted to this statement of Bato dela Rosa
Senate President Tito Sotto said that he thinks he and Senator Ping Lacson are the “secret” candidates of their fellow Senators.
Lacson and Sotto are among the first politicians who expressed their plan to run for national positions. The Senate President is running against his fellow Senator, Kiko Pangilinan for the position of vice president. Pangilinan is known to be a close family affiliate of the Sottos as his wife Megastar Sharon Cuneta is the niece of Sotto’s wife veteran actress Helen Gamboa.
Because of this, a gap, somehow, was created between the two families. Ciara Sotto, the daughter of the Senate President, was disappointed when Pangilinan was named as the running mate of Vice President Leni Robredo.
However, in a recent statement, based on the report from News5, the Senate President expressed his suspicion regarding the choices of his fellow lawmakers. “I have a strong suspicion that Ping and I are the underground (secret) candidates of most of our colleagues. Suspetsa lang!” Sotto said.
This statement from the actor-turned-politician came from the statement of his fellow Senator Bato dela Rosa. The former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief in sharing his birthday wish said that he hopes the tandem of Sotto and Lacson will win in the 2022 elections.
“Sana manalo si Sir Ping at SP,” the Senator who is known to be a close ally of President Rodrigo Duterte said that in a video during his 60th birthday celebration that was taken by Senator Joel Villanueva.
Meanwhile, in a previous statement, Tito Sotto stressed that being a celebrity is not completely an advantage to win the election. He said that being popular can be a disadvantage also especially if the person is just popular for negative things.
