Ex-Convict Former Soldier Arrested for Stealing Bicycle in Valenzuela City

Police authorities arrested an ex-convict and a former soldier for allegedly stealing a bike in Valenzuela City.

After stealing a bicycle and grabbing a rifle in Valenzuela City the other day, a former member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) allegedly went back to jail. Gerardo Patio alias “Gary,” 52, of Malolos City, Bulacan, was identified as the culprit.

At 2:00 a.m., they were conducting a Comelec checkpoint on Mac Arthur Highway, Barangay Marulas, when they noticed Patio riding a bicycle while being pursued by a guy, according to Police Major Tessie Lleva, head of Sub-Station 3. According to reports, the was yelling for rescue.

The man chasing was recognized as Robin Dacanay, a 21-year-old carwash kid who also happened to be the owner of the bicycle. Corp. of Police The guy was flagged down and captured by Mark Jason Cantillon.

According to the victim, the suspect’s gun was pointed at him, forcing him to abandon his bicycle. Patio was searched after the arrest, and a cal. 38 revolver with three rounds was seized.

According to the suspect, he worked for the AFP until being discharged and imprisoned in 2016 after being detected with illicit narcotics. He was just freed in 2021 and had no means of support, so he committed the theft.
