Bongbong Marcos declines to join the presidential debate
Former Senator Bongbong Marcos will not attend the presidential debate organized by CNN Philippines.
Critics of the son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos have been pointing out his absence in presidential interviews and forums. To recall, he decline to join the presidential interviews by seasoned broadcaster Jessica Soho on GMA-7.
His reason for not attending this was because allegedly, the KMJS host is âbiased against the Marcosesâ. Marcos also did not join the presidential forum by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).
The camp of the presidential aspirant of the UniTeam said that Marcos had a scheduled engagement prior to this. It was, later on, found out that he joined the presidential interviews by seasoned broadcaster Korina Sanchez.
Based on the report from CNN Philippines, Bongbong Marcos once again turned down the invitation to join the presidential debate organized by the news outlet.
âLabor leader Leody de Guzman, ex-presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella, Jose Montemayor Jr., former defense chief Norberto Gonzales, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Faisal Mangondato, Sen. Ping Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Vice President Leni Robredoâ will join the presidential debate on February 27, the report said.
However, the presidential candidate who is leading the surveys will not attend. Reportedly, the camp of Marcos said that the reason for his absence is a campaign commitment. “Due to the schedules we have already confirmed for the UniTeamâs campaign commitments, we are unable to accept this additional engagement at this time,” the camp of the presidential aspirant said.
Previously, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, the spokesperson of Bongbong Marcos, said that the presidential aspirant will not join debates or forums that will just trigger âbickeringâ among the candidates.
