Camp of Bongbong Marcos claimed that there is an assassination plot versus the former Senator
Concerned government agencies are now looking into the alleged assassination plot against presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos as his camp claimed about this on Sunday, January 30.
The camp of BBM, based on the report from Inquirer, had a press release stating that the Department of Justice Office of Cybercrime has started its investigation after the agency received a message that imposed a threat to kill the presidential aspirant.
“WE ARE meeting everyday to plan for BBM’s assassination. Get ready,” a TikTok post stated. Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed that this matter has reached his office.
He said that the National Bureau of Investigation is already investigating this matter. “Yes, it was our Office of Cybercrime who received an online tip, and acted immediately in view of the serious nature of the information received. The NBI is now also on it,” Guevarra said.
This case was also referred to the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG). Atty. Charito Zamora, cybercrime group officer-in-charge of DOJ, said that they already coordinated with the Law Enforcement Outreach Trust and Safety of TikTok to “preserve the data related to the subject account while the Philippine authorities are working on the legal process for its disclosure.”
Based on the report, the NBI will prioritize any validated information regarding threats against presidential candidates. Guevarra said that the agency has not received reports about assassination threats against other aspirants for the presidential position.
In line with the abrupt action from the NBI, Atty. Vic Guevarra, the chief of staff and spokesperson of Bongbong Marcos, thanked the agency. Despite this threat, the lawyer said that the presidential aspirant will continue to personally give his message to people around the country.
