BECAUSE AND FOR DIFFERENCE – The proper uses of “because” and “for”, their difference, and some correct sample sentences.
Creating confusion most of the time is on how to use “for” and “because” in a sentence. Some people confuse them as interchangeable but each actually has proper uses in a sentence. “For” is usually a preposition and sometimes conjunction while “because” is a conjunction and introduces subordinate clauses connecting the result of something with the reason.
USES OF “FOR”:
- as a purpose or answers the questions “What are you here for” and “What are they doing it for”.
Sample:
- I will leave on Friday for three-day vacation out of town.
- I always wear this old and oversized shirt for painting.
- to refer someone or answers the “who” question
Sample:
- I bought this car for my sister.
- I can cook for 20 people in a day, on average.
- as duration
Sample:
- I can drive from here to north for over an house.
- She will go down South for a year.
- as because
- He is crying, for his mother is in a critical condition.
- I though I will be hired immediately, for my mother is part of the company’s board of trustees.
USES OF BECAUSE
- “because” is use to focus on the reason of something
Sample sentences:
- I love to drink coffee because it helps me forget my problems.
- She cannot let go of him because she loves him so much.
- They want me removed from the list because they don’t like me.
- We want you here because you helped us in many ways.
- My life became happier because of you.
