China Launches Artificial Sun Worth $1 Trillion
The actual footage of China launching their $1 trillion artificial sun goes viral and garnered various reactions from the social media users.
The Twitter page “RapTV” has shared a short video clip of China launching an artificial sun into the sky. The event set a new world record after the country reportedly generate temperature five times hotter than the Sun.
In the video, it can be seen that a crown of viewers were gathered at a certain area holding their mobile phones to film the event. The video garnered about 5.9 million views as of this writing.
Several fact-checkers reiterated that the video can be traced back to last September 2021 and the video has been re-uploaded by numerous social media accounts. However, it was still unclear if the video has been reposted or newly-uploaded.
According to the reports, the superheated plasma reached 126 million degrees Fahrenheit radiating 10, 000 degrees Fahrenheit at the surface and 27 million degrees Fahrenheit at the core.
China has a nuclear reactor called the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), which has been referred as the “artificial sun” that can simulate fusion reactions occurring within stars.
The EAST nuclear fusion reactor was able to maintain a temperature of 158 million degrees Fahrenheit for 1,056 seconds. The success can help scientists to discover the source of near-unlimited clean energy.
The researchers claimed that nuclear fusion replicates the sun’s physics through merging of atomic nuclei to produce large amount of energy and convert it into electricity. It is also the cleanest available energy source today because it leaves no radioactive waste.
The scientists admitted that the replicate is not a simple task. They experienced difficulties on handling plasma, which is hot enough to fuse. Fusion reactors require very high temperatures. Currently, China is planning to develop nuclear fusion power and complete the project by early 2030s.
