Director Bobot Mortiz revealed the deeper reason why A-list actor John Lloyd Cruz accepted the offer of GMA and with this, he now has a new sitcom Happy ToGetHer.
After two decades of being a Kapamilya, John Lloyd signed a contract with the Kapuso network this year. For his first project, he is doing a sitcom with some celebrities from ABS-CBN.
Included in the cast are Miles Ocampo, Jayson Gainza, and Janus del Prado. Based on the article in Bandera, during a recent interview, John Lloyd expressed excitement to work with other Kapuso stars who will guest on his sitcom.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting all of them na nag-e-express na gusto daw nilang makatrabaho kami. Sana may mahanap na pagkakataon, materyal, opportunity para we can all get together and experience working together,” the A-list actor said.
He added that he hopes their schedules will meet in order for this to happen. During the same interview, Direk Bobot Mortiz revealed the major reason why John Lloyd decided to do this project in the Kapuso network.
“Involved na involved si John Lloyd dito (sa sitcom), hindi lang sa paggawa namin ng show, kundi kung bakit namin ginawa ang show na ito,” the veteran actor-director said. Direk Bobot said that they are among the people who weren’t able to continue to work when ABS-CBN was ordered to shut down due to the franchise renewal issue.
“Sabi ko, ‘Lloydie, puwede ba tayong gumawa para matulungan natin yung mga kasamahan natin?’ Sabi niya, ‘Sige, Direk. Kung makakatulong ako, babalik ako,” the sitcom director said. Direk Bobot Mortiz added that this is the first reason why he is very thankful to John Lloyd Cruz. Happy ToGetHer started airing on December 26.
