What is the effect of “uncomfortable” roles on Dingdong Dantes?
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes revealed the reason why he prefers to do “uncomfortable” roles.
Dingdong is one of the actors in the Philippines who acquired longevity in showbiz. From doing teeny-bopper roles on TV, he was able to evolve into serious acting that showed his prowess in portraying various roles.
His recent movie A Hard Day that received recognition in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2021 gave him the chance to portray a role that is not in his comfort zone.
Based on the article in the Philippine Star, Dingdong Dantes still considers himself as “work-in-progress.” This is the reason why he would prefer to have “uncomfortable” roles. “Gusto ko yung parati akong na-e-excite, yung tipong hindi ako comfortable,” the Kapuso star said.
The actor shared that in their line of work, they have the term “edge work”. “We want to be in a certain place where it’s no longer comfortable because that’s the only place wherein an actor can grow,” he shared.
Dingdong said that he always wants to be on that edge that would be able to challenge himself. Through this, his world as an artist grows bigger and wider. He also said that this has been his basis for choosing what project to accept.
The Kapuso actor also mentioned that in his movie A Hard Day with award-winning actor John Arcilla, he literally had a hard day or rather hard days. It is because there was an intense action scene in which he had to receive beatings from the character of John and they did for four days.
On the other hand, Dingdong Dantes only has good words for his co-actor who never failed to give his best in every scene despite the schedule being tight because John Arcilla had other engagements while they were filming.
