Partido Reporma Slams BBM-Sara Caravan in Qc for Causing Heavy Traffic

The Partido Reporma criticized the caravan organized by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio (BBM-Sara) in Quezon City.

The Partido Reporma of presidential candidate Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and vice-presidential candidate Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, has expressed its disapproval with the BBM-Sara caravan, which is accompanied by a large number of followers. In a statement, they described the incident as a major nuisance for motorists.

“Partido Reporma decried the long caravan held by presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his party on Wednesday for causing massive inconvenience to the riding public and motorists plying Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City,” said in the party statement.

They believe that what Marcos and Duterte are doing may be in violation of the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) policy, particularly given the fact that the disease is still spreading. It also drew the attention of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to the so-called super tandem’s actions.

“Partido Reporma laments that in the time of pandemic, there are politicians who still subscribe to that kind of politics where common decency and basic social conventions are being swept under the rug for political expediency,” Partido Reporma treasurer Arnel Ty.

“We are hoping that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and COMELEC would seriously take a look at this issue, as Partido Reporma has been doing its best to play fair this election season with utmost respect to the sentiments and safety of our countrymen.” Ty added.

He further emphasized that Lacson himself mentioned in a media interview that he and his running mate Sotto avoid appearing in large caravans because they prefer to speak individually to Filipino voters in order to fully explain their programs. Meanwhile, the Marcos’ camp has expressed regret for the disruption caused to motorists.

“Humihingi na rin ng paumanhin at pang-unawa ang BBM-Sara UniTeam sa mga motorista, biyahero, pamahalaang lungsod at maging sa MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) kung ang nasabing Unity Caravan ay nagdulot ng pagsikip sa daloy ng trapiko,” said Atty . Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesman.
