Former Boxer Gerardo “Gerry” Quiñones Passes Away Due to Electrocution

MAGSAYSAY, DAVAO DEL SUR – The former boxer Gerardo “Gerry” Quiñones has passed away due to electrocution.

Throughout the years, numerous individuals have died of electrocution in different circumstances. Some people got electrocuted while doing construction jobs while some of them were due to accident.

Several children also suffered and even died of electrocution after playing live wires or electrical outlets. Adults probably suffer electric shock due to accident and other unexpected incident.

The authorities repeatedly reminded the public to be more careful when dealing with electrical cables and always bear in mind the danger of mishandling electricity.

The 48-year-old boxer Gerardo “Gerry” Quiñones passed away due to electrocution while working at a building in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. Quiñones is working as a construction worker at the commercial building.

The former boxing champion was installing the roof of the building when a live wire touched the material he is working. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed him to the Viacrusis Hospital.

Unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead-on-arrival. He immediately died after suffering major injuries due to electrocution from Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative 13, 000 voltage line.

Quiñones rose to fame during the 90s and has even played boxing in various parts of the country. He became a Super Featherweight champion in 1996 and other achievements during his boxing career.
