Vice Pres. Robredo Remains Relaxed amid Marcos, Duterte Forming a Tandem
ROBREDO – Lawyer Barry Gutierrez spoke on the Vice President amid the tandem of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Recently, several happenings in the political arena have taken social media platforms by storm. The decision of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to withdraw from a re-election bid elicited different reactions from the people.
Previously, the presidential daughter asked understanding to her supporters saying she wants to finish her three (3) terms as mayor in Davao City. However, last week, the Davao City Mayor withdrew her Certificate of Candidacy (COC). She also resigned from her regional political party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, and joined the national party Lakas-CMD.
Mayor Inday Sara substituted Lakas-CMD’s vice-presidential aspirant. She’s adopted by the party of presidential aspirant and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. as the candidate that their party will support for vice president in the Election 2022.
The recent substitutions in the Election 2022 have hooked different reactions from the camps of the other presidential and vice presidentials aspirants. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Atty. Barry Gutierrez, the spokesman of presidential aspirant and Vice Pres. Leni Robredo, said that the Vice President remains relaxed amid former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte forming a tandem.
“Si VP Leni, chill lang. Relax lang tayo,” Gutierrez said.
The spokesman of Vice Pres. Robredo said that their camp has long expected last-minute changes with regards to the candidacies for Election 2022. He tagged it as a negative act on the substitution process and claimed that such moves are done to change the minds of the people.
Aside from the substitution of Mayor Sara, changes also took place in the candidates of PDP-Laban. Senator Bong Go withdrew his candidacy for vice president and decided to run for president. Go who is a long-time aide of the President has the support of the Chief Executive.
