Leni Robredo on Marcos Jr. Petition: “Hindi naman kami diktador. Bakit didiktahan…”

Vice Pres. Leni Robredo Reacts to Statement of Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr.

LENI ROBREDO – The Vice President reacted to the statement of presidential aspirant and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. over the petition against him.

Recently, a petition challenging the candidacy of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos was filed at the Commission on Elections (Comelec). It is over the alleged non-filing of the income tax returns of the former Senator. The petitioners are representatives of the different civic groups in the Philippines.

As for the camp of Marcos Jr., the said petition is an “expected nuisance” on his presidential bid for Election 2022. Aside from it, there’s a 2nd petition filed against Marcos Jr.’s Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for president.

Based on the report, Vice Pres. Leni Robredo responded to the statement of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. saying that she is not a dictator to tell the petitioners what to do. She also expressed that if the former Senator thinks that the petition has no ground to prosper, he has nothing to be scared of.

“Hindi naman kami diktador. Bakit didiktahan namin yung mga petitioners na i-withdraw iyon? But if Mr. Marcos thinks that there is no ground for the petition to prosper, wala naman siyang dapat ikatakot,” the Vice President said.

It is the second time that Robredo and Marcos Jr. are running for the same position. In 2016, they were both candidates for the vice-presidential position. The lawyer from Naga City emerged as the winner of the election but it was contested by Marcos Jr.

The former Senator filed an electoral protest but the Court’s decision favored Robredo as the real winner of the Election 2016 vice presidential race.
