3-Hour Brownout Experienced Over Mountain Province & Kalinga Due to Electrocuted Bat

An electrocuted bat causes at least three-hour brownout over Mountain province and Kalinga last weekend.

Nowadays, electricity is considered as the blood of the industry for playing a very important role in the economy especially during this modern generation. It provides convenient and comfort to the consumers.

Power energizes machines and other equipment needed for the operation of businesses. The continuous business operations also improves the economy. It usually makes the hard task easier and faster.

Power companies provides electricity to the public consumers in exchange of a certain amount. Consumers have to pay for the amount of electricity they have consumed for a certain amount of time.

Unfortunately, there are some unexpected incidents that can cause blackouts or power interruption. It does not only causes inconvenience to the consumers but also affect the country’s economy.

Short circuit, lightning, bad weather condition, preventive maintenance, strangled animals and other unfortunate incidents are the major causes of power interruption.

Recently, the Mt. Province Electric Cooperative reported that a bat got electrocuted on their primary line. The incident causes a damage on the company’s insulator, which leads to a total blackout.

The blackout affects five towns in the Mountain Province and some parts of Pinglayan in Kalinga around 10:00 pm on Saturday evening (November 13, 2021). The incident leads to a three-hour blackout, which causes inconvenience in the affected areas.
