Sara Duterte joins the Swiftie fad
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte shared a post on her Instagram account with the caption “All Too Well” hours before her vice presidential candidacy was announced.
On November 9, the presidential daughter withdrew her candidacy for mayor and this immediately elicited speculations that she is aiming for a national position. Her close friend, Rep. Joey Salceda said in an interview that most probably, Mayor Sara will run for president.
However, there will also speculations that she would run for vice president and as running mate of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos. On November 11, Sara Duterte had her oath-taking as a member of Lakas-CMD, a day after she resigned from her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Earlier, Commission on Election spokesperson James Jimenez said that the presidential daughter can run for a national position but it should be under a national party.
On November 13, through Atty. Charo Munsayac, the Davao City Mayor filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president. She is replacing Lyle Fernando Uy who filed her COC for Vice President on Oct. 8, based on the report from Manila Bulletin.
This finally ended the rumors, speculations, and anticipations regarding the political plan of the presidential daughter. Prior to this, Lakas-CMD president Martin Romualdez said that there had been discussions about the possible Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte tandem in 2022.
Hours before the vice presidential bid of Mayor Sara was announced, she shared this meaningful post on her IG account. She was wearing a hoodie with her face printed on the chest area with the words “Inday Sara 2022”.
Her caption “All Too Well” is so timely because on November 12, pop star Taylor Swift re-released her song with the same title but it was a 10-minute version.
