Big-Time Oil Price Hike Set in Second Week of September

Gas Stations to Implement Big-Time Oil Price Hike Set on Tuesday (September 8, 2026)

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – Several oil companies in the country are set to impose a big-time oil price hike for the second week of September

Filipino motorists may soon face another round of higher fuel prices as industry estimates point to a huge increase in pump prices on Tuesday (September 8, 2026). After enjoying a rollback at the start of the month, consumers are now being advised to prepare for possible increases driven by increasing oil prices in the global market.

Diesel prices could climb by P4.50 to P5.50 per liter, while gasoline prices may increase by P4.00 to P4.50 per liter based on industry projections from trading between August 31 and September 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, world market movements show increases of P5.10 per liter for diesel, P4.40 per liter for gasoline, and P5.05 per liter for kerosene.

The expected price hike comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to affect global energy markets.

New hostilities involving the United States and Iran have raised concerns about possible disruptions in oil supply routes, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping channels for crude oil and fuel products.

These developments have pushed oil prices higher and increased uncertainty in the international market.

Fuel supply concerns have also added pressure to prices. Industry reports indicate that diesel inventories remain tight, while refinery disruptions in parts of the Middle East and Russia continue to limit supply.

The forecast comes only days after oil companies implemented price reductions effective September 1, cutting gasoline prices by around P0.30 to 0.40 per liter and diesel prices by nearly P4 per liter.

Despite that temporary relief, market conditions now point to another substantial increase next week. Oil firms are expected to announce their official adjustments on Monday, with new prices taking effect the following day.
