PAGASA Says Maring Intensifies, Signal No. 2 Raised in Some Areas

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (October 12)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Severe Tropical Storm Maring has intensified and signal no. 2 has been raised in some areas.

On Tuesday (October 12, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Severe Tropical Storm Maring would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

Maring has been last spotted at 170 kilometer West of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometer per hour and gustiness of up to 125 kph moving 20 kph at a westward direction.

Severe Tropical Storm Maring and the Southwest Monsoon would bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the entire Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

Heavy to torrential rainfall are expected over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Region. Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and the rest of Cagayan would experience moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

PAGASA also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2:

  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands,
  • Northern portion of Isabela
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Abra
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur

  • The rest of Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet
  • La Union
  • Pangasinan
  • Aurora
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac
  • Zambales
  • Pampanga
  • Bulacan
  • Northern portion of Bataan
  • Northern portion of Quezon

Maring also enhances the southwest monsoon that will bring monsoon rains over Western Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas, and the western, eastern, and northern seaboards of Mindanao would be moderate to rough, according to the weather bureau.
