PAGASA Says Tropical Storm Maring Intensifies, Rainy Weekends Expected in PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Saturday (October 9, 2021)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Maring has intensified and rainy weekends are expected over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (October 9, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Maring would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Tropical Storm Maring was estimated at 875 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

Maring is expected to bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Northern Samar as well as the entire Visayas.

The intertropical convergence zone would bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga at Aurora.

Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands would also experience similar weather conditions. Metro Manila and the remaining parts of Luzon would also have the same weather.

“Beginning this afternoon or evening, light to moderate with at times heavy rains may also begin affecting Palawan and Occidental Mindoro as the southwesterlies enhanced by ‘Maring’ begin affecting these areas,” PAGASA said.

The weather agency also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Tropical depression Nando embedded with the larger circulation of a monsoon depression has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
