Megan Young Senator’s Trophy Wife Role in ‘OTJ 2’, Reflects Reality?

Miss World 2013 Megan Young played the role of a trophy wife of a Senator in the movie OTJ: The Missing 8 by Erik Matti and the director said that it reflected the reality.
The said movie brought pride to the Philippines. It received positive feedback from the jury of the 78th Venice Film Festival. Lead actor John Arcilla won the Best Actor trophy. Later on, it was revealed that the jury wanted a tie as they also wanted Dennis Trillo, another lead star of the movie, to win the same title.
Also included in the cast was Megan Young. Based on the article in The Philippine Star, Erik Matti insisted on casting the beauty queen-actress.
“Nagpasintabi ako sa simula pa lang at nakiusap ako sa kanya (Megan). She barely has a line in the film but I really wanted to cast a beauty queen like Megan Young. I wanted the impression that a beauty queen gives off… ‘Di ba mga senador mahilig sa trophy wives? Usually binibingwit talaga nila mga beauty queen. Pinaplano, sikat na artista,” the award-winning director said.
Megan played the wife of Wendell Ramos’s senator character in the movie. Direk Erik said that aside from Wendell, he wanted someone statuesque and Megan is fit for this.
The filmmaker stressed that Megan was already exuding that beauty queen aura even though she is not dressed yet as one. “Just casting alone, beauty queen na agad makikita mo,” Direk Erik said.
OTJ: The Missing 8 is a six-part series shown on HBO Asia Original premiering on September 12. The story continues from the film that was released in 2013.
