PAGASA Releases Latest Update on Tropical Depression Lannie (Oct 5)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Lannie has crossed the northern portion of Palawan.

On Tuesday (October 5, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Lannie would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Lannie crossed the northern portion of Palawan and expected to move at northwestward track and west northwest track over the West Philippine Sea. It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday (October 6, 2021).

The weather system has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It is moving 25 kph at a westward direction. It is expected to make another landfall in the vicinity of northern mainland Palawan or Calamian Islands.

Lannie is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains over Palawan, including Calamian, Kalayaan, and Cuyo Islands. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mimaropa.

PAGASA also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1. In the following areas:

  • Southwestern portion of Romblon
  • Southern portion of Oriental Mindoro
  • Southern portion of Occidental Mindoro
  • Northern portion of Palawan
  • Antique
  • Western portion of Aklan

The weather agency has also warned the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible isolated to scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the entire archipelago especially in areas under signal no. 1 would be moderate to rough. The weather bureau warned the mariners that sea travel remains risky under the current sea conditions.
