De Castro was our country’s Vice President and in 2010, after his term ended, he went back to broadcasting. And now, after a decade, he is returning to serve the people again as a public servant through his senatorial bid. To recall, he authored 252 bills and resolutions that included the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2002, Balikbayan Law of 2002, and the Quarantine Act, and the Newborn Screening Test Act of 2001.

He bid goodbye to the programs where he is the anchor and to the ABS-CBN network. He aims to take a chance to serve the people under a new form of public service but vowed that his service will still continue. And talking to his network about his intentions, the ABS-CBN network expressed support for him. They “wish him well” as he would like to continue his service to the people being a government official.

Kabayan will leave the programs TV Patrol, Kabayan, and TeleRadyo Balita. The network thanked him for his service where “he led iconic shows and spearheaded public service efforts while also serving as a mentor to generations of broadcast journalists in the organization.”
