Noli De Castro Leaving ABS-CBN To Run For Senate In 2022 Elections

NOLI DE CASTRO – One of Kapamilya’s longest-running news anchors, Noli De Castro said he was leaving ABS-CBN to run for Senate.

De Castro has been out of the political limelight for almost 11 years after his stint as vice president in 2004. Now, De Castro is set to run for a Senatorial post under the Aksyon Demokratiko party list.

Included in the party is Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso, who is running for President in the 2022 elections. However, this won’t be De Castro’s first rodeo for the Senatorial post.

The 2022 election would be his second time to run for the position. Back in 2001, he topped the 2001 senatorial elections with over 16 million votes. However, he didn’t continue his 6-year term following his vice-presidency win 3 years later.

During his stint as Senator, Decastro authored 252 bills and resolutions. Among these bills was the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2002. Along with this, he also wrote the Balikbayan Law of 2002, and the Quarantine Act and Newborn Screening Test Act of 2001.

But, at the end of his term as Vice President, he returned to broadcasting in 2010 with ABS-CBN. Here, he anchored ABS-CBN’s primetime news program, TV Patrol, and hosted a morning radio program on Teleradyo.
