HERBERT BAUTISTA – Actor-turned-politician Herbert “Bistek” Bautista filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator in the 2022 elections.

Aspiring senators troop to the Sofitel Philippine Manila to file their COC for next year’s election. The filing period will run until Oct. 8. They will be vying for 12 seats in the senate.

On Wednesday, October 6, actor-turned-politician Herbert Bautista filed his COC for senator. This is his first bid of the former Quezon City Mayor for the national post since joining politics in the 90s.

The 53-year-old politician was the local chief of the country’s most populous city from 2010 and won reelections in 2013 and 2016.

Based on a report from Philstar, Herbert Bautista is running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition. He is part of the 2020 Senate slate of senators Ping Lacson and Tito Sotto III.

Lacson and Sotto also filed their COCs on Wednesday for president and vice president, respectively. Bautista thanked his former constituents during his filing. He said, “I learned a lot from you… I hope you will help me in this new chapter of my life to help more, not only Quezon City, but the whole country”

Among the incumbent and former senator who have filed their COC were Chiz Escudero, Loren Legarda, Risa Hontiveros, Joel Villanueva, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and JV Ejercito.
