KUYA KIM ATIENZA – This is the reason why Kuya Kim Atienza decided to leave ABS-CBN and transfer to its rival network, the GMA.
It has been over a year since ABS-CBN has failed to secure a franchise and shifted to air through their digital channels. Many artists have left and the most recent one is Kuya Kim Atienza. He’s been under the network for 17 years already and is known for being the Kapamilya channel’s weatherman. But why did he decide to transfer?

Kuya Kim is now officially a part of the GMA network and he will not replace its weatherman Mang Tani. He revealed that his segment may “probably be an information or trivia” one. He is grateful as he is now a part of GMA’s news program. He will be a part of “Mars Pa More” and will headline a show entitled “Dapat Alam Mo”.
Now, why did he transfer? The now Kapuso host said that mainly, his transfer is fueled by his desire for growth and to explore. He added, “I felt like I was already semi-retired. I felt like if I stayed on, I would retire as a weatherman.”
His wife was the first person he told about his decision and she was happy for him. His wife Felicia believed that he can do more and she’s happy because his passion is back. The next one to know is his eldest son who expressed that it is a great choice to go where there is upward mobility.
“At GMA, there’s a window of opportunity to be able to grow at this late age in my life that’s 54. Very few people are given that opportunity to grow at this age,” he said based on the report from GMA.
