Occidental Mindoro Hit by Earthquake with 4.9 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Occidental Mindoro, September 22, 2021.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Occidental Mindoro, September 22, 2021. At 12:43 a.m., Mamburao was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 13.23°North, 120.50°East – 010 km North 85° West of Mamburao with a depth of origin of 025 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damage is expected of the said quake and as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were recorded of the said quake:

- Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro
- Paluan, Occidental Mindoro
- Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
- Intesity III
- Mabini, Batangas
- Malvar, Batangas
- Tingloy, Batangas
- Intensity II
- Bauan, Batangas
- Tagaytay City
- Quezon City
- Intensity I
- Talisay, Batangas
