Manny Pacquiao Clarifies Controversial Statement About LGBTQ Community

Manny Pacquiao reiterates that he is not condemning the LGBTQ community

Senator Manny Pacquiao had a past statement about the LGBTQ community that went controversial and in a recent interview, he clarified what he said.

Back in 2016, the boxer-turned-politician stated that those who are engaging in union or marriage between two persons from the same gender “are worse than animals”. This was slammed by the members of the LGBTQ community, as well as their allies.

Several personalities who belong to this community also received criticism when they posted photos with the Senator, just like what TV host Raymond Gutierrez and social media personality BB Gandanghari did.

In a recent interview on Toni Gonzaga’s Toni Talks vlog, Manny Pacquiao once again stressed that he does not condemn the members of the LGBTQ community. He stressed that his statement had too much “edit”.

May mga pamangkin ako na members ng LGBTQ, mga workers, mga kasama sa bahay. Who am I to judge a person?Mahaba kasi yung statement na yun. Lahat tayo kawangis ng Panginoon. Hindi ko sila kino-condemn. Maganda nga katrabaho sila. Masisipag at masaya,” the lawmaker said.

The boxing champ also stressed that he is not in the position to judge. He added that his statement about the said matter was long but it was just edited and so it implied a different meaning.

Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao has announced that he will be running for President in the 2022 elections. He said that he wants to fight the corruption in the government. He is aiming to put the corrupt officials and thieves in jail in order for the economy of the Philippines to soar. The Senator also expressed his readiness to help the less-fortunate Filipinos. “Kung hindi ako ang tutulong sa mahihirap, sino pa?” he said.
