Pres. Duterte Speaks on Senators Probing the Government’s Deals
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte warned the senators probing the alleged overpricing in the pandemic response deals.
Undeniably, there are a lot of issues going around now in the Philippine political arena. There are issues about the upcoming Election 2022, the COVID-19 response of the country, corruption, etc. They are eliciting different reactions from the people.
With regards to the COVID-19 response of the Philippines, currently, there are investigations on the alleged overpricing of some of the deals made by the national government. There are accusations of overpriced anti-virus masks and face shields.
The issue reached the Office of the President and the 76-year-old Chief Executive asserted that the deals made were legal.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that the senators were “zeroing now” on Michael Yang, his former adviser, and his connection to Pharmally Pharmaceuticals Corp., the supplier of the alleged overpriced face shields and face masks.
According to the 76-year-old President, if the order is delivered and it is found to be the product specified, then the government will pay for it. He raised a question on what senators are looking for.
Pres. Duterte warned the senators probing the alleged overpriced deals of the national government that they will also find out what’s wrong with the lawmakers.
“Ganito na lang ang laro natin, you find your fault in us, and we will find what’s wrong with you,” the President said.
According to the Chief Executive, they do not want to control the senators but they will also like to criticize them stressing they won’t fish out anything if they are on a “fishing expedition”. He stressed that they will begin finding what’s wrong with Senator Richard Gordon. According to him, he is sure that he will find a lot.
