LGUs Declare Class Suspensions In These Areas for Thursday (September 9)
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class and work suspensions due to the effects of Tropical Storm Jolina.
Tropical Storm Jolina has been affecting the country’s weather condition over the past few days. The tropical cyclone continues to bring an inclement weather condition causing floods and landslides over some parts of the country.
Jolina has been last spotted at 145 kilometers west northwest of Iba, Zambales or 175 km West of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the weather disturbance will move northwestward and would leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon or evening (September 9).
Some local government units have even declared the cancellation of classes in some areas due to the inclement weather condition brought by the tropical storm as it continues to whip some parts of Luzon.
Here is the list of areas affected by the suspension of classes:
- Las Piñas City (Kindergarten only)
- University of Batangas (all levels including College of Law and Graduate School)
The class cancellation has been declared due to possible power interruption and signal outage amid the inclement weather condition.
However, government offices engaged in emergency response, medical services and public safety will remain operational.
