Cusi Says PDP-Laban Statement “Unequivocal” – Duterte Set To Run As VP
DUTERTE SET FOR VP RACE – According to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, President Duterte is set to run for Vice President in 2022.
Recently, Duterte was confirmed saying that he would run as Vice-President in 2022. However, Palace Spokesman Harry Roque explained that he would only do so if his daughter, Sara Duterte, does not run.
Following this, the Cusi-led PDP-Laban issued a statement saying Duterte already agreed to run for Vice President in 2022 under the party. Based on an article from GMA, Cusi said:
“The PDP Laban statement was clear and unequivocal. No need to interpret, explain, or supplement… Any extraneous statement and conclusion is non sequitur“
Meanwhile, the other wing of PDP-Laban led by fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao claims that the announced “Duterte-Go” tandem was simply a diversion for Sara Duterte. According to Pacquiao’s camp, the announcements were made to protect Sara from political attacks.
Additionally, Sara herself stated that her father personally came to her and said that he and Go would run in tandem during the 2022 elections. “The President, very recently, personally confirmed to me that he will run for Vice President and Senator Go as President“, she said.
Furthermore, the Davao City Mayor advised his father’s camp that if they could confirm it in private, then there should be no reason why they need to keep it a secret from the public.
According to her, Duterte and Go should simply show the Filipino people what they can give to the Philippines and how they could help.
