Health Workers to Receive SRA Within 10 Days, According to Department of Budget
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that the health workers would receive their SRA within 10 days.
On Monday (August 23, 2021), DBM Officer-in-Charge Tina Rose Marie Canda announced that the agency is set to release the special risk allowances (SRA) of medical frontliners within 10 days after already being delayed for several months.
Canda is already searching for sources of fund to pay the SRA asked by the healthcare employees who were risking their life to fight the coronavirus disease and providing medical care to the Filipino people.
“The bureau in charge is currently reviewing all the funding sources that could be tapped,” Canda said.
The announcement came after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Department of Health, Duque and DBM to pay the benefits and allowances deserved by medical workers. She said that the amount of the payment has yet to be determined,
The DBM officials said that Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund for the health workers might become one of the SRA fund sources while they could tap other private sectors.

Several groups of health employees have also complained after the removal of their benefits including meal and transportation allowances.
The Commission on Audit (COA) also flagged DOH over alleged deficiencies in using the P67.32-billion COVID-19 funds. DBM has also released P9.02 billion as part of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2.
