This is how she came up to gather funds for his baby Miloszek Malysa’s heart surgery, according to her social media. This is the first Olympic silver medal for the Polish javelin thrower.

“I didn’t spend long thinking about this,” she said. “It was the first fundraiser I came across and I knew it was the right one.”

In Stanford, California, her baby’s heart surgery will cost around $ 383,000. According to her, she had already saved half of the funds raised by her family from the crowdfund, and this was her way of raising funds to complete the remaining half.

According to Sky News, Andrejczyk competed this year despite a shoulder injury and bone cancer. She stated that knowing how much she had to “battle against adversity and pain” motivated her to help her baby who was suffering from a severe heart condition.

People commented on her social media post to submit bids, and she launched the auction at 200,000 zloty (£37,000). The medal was purchased for $ 125,000 by the proprietor of a supermarket in Poland Zabka.

The athlete said she is “eternally grateful” to the company adding: “I have no words to express how happy I am.” The company insisted she keeps the silver medal from Tokyo.

Its donation, along with additional contributions, reached the £140,000 goal she had set for herself. Andrejczyk finished second in the Olympics, trailing China’s Liu Shiying.
