LGUs in Metro Manila Start Cash Aid Distribution to NCR Residents
The local government units in Metro Manila have started to distribute the cash assistance to NCR residents affected by ECQ.
On Wednesday (August 11, 2021), various LGU across the National Capital Region have started to give cash assistance to low-income families affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The Metro Manila mayors have agreed to distribute the ‘ayuda’ on the same day after President Duterte instructed DILG and DSWD to take over the task from a certain local government unit for lack of organization.
The national government aims to give P1, 000 per person or P4, 000 cash aid per household. Around 11 million residents in NCR are expected to receive the financial aid during the two-week lockdown period.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya attended the distribution of “ayuda” in Parañaque City.
The distribution of financial assistance in Parañaque City was held at 8:00 am in Greenheights Village in Barangay San Isidro. The residents of Mandaluyong City have also queued at a covered court in Barangay Addition Hills for the cash aid.
The cash aid distribution in barangays Sta. Lucia, St. Joseph, Isabelita, and Addition Hills have already started at 7:00 am, according to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora.
However, San Juan is just accommodating 100 recipients per hour to ensure that the health protocols and physical distancing measure will be observed. Quezon City LGU allocates P2.48 billion for over 800, 000 individuals.
Barangay Commonwealth has two payout sites and each site will accommodate over 1,000 beneficiaries only. Manila started the financial aid distribution at 9:00 am.
