DBM Says Bataan Province to Get P700 Million Worth of ECQ Cash Aid

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said that Bataan province will receive P700-million worth of cash aid during lockdown.

Last week, the National government has declared Metro Manila and its nearby areas under enhance community quarantine to curb the increasing cases of COVID-19 infections. The operations of several business establishments have been suspended.

However, businesses offering essential goods and services would still be open for the Filipino consumers amid the hard lockdown.

On Tuesday (August 10, 2021), DBM announced that the local government unit of Bataan would receive P700-million financial assistance for its residents during the implementation of enhanced community quarantine.

DBM Spokesperson Asec. Rolly Toledo said that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the local government units determine the amount allocated for the ECQ ayuda.

The province of Laguna will also receive funds amounting to P2.715 billion worth of financial aid for the residents affected by the coronavirus-related lockdown starting August 6 to August 15. Bataan starts the ECQ last August 8 and would end on August 22.

Toledo said that the memorandum has sent to the Office of the President for approval. The memorandum is expected to be released soon in provinces of Bataan and Laguna.

“Pinadala na namin yung memorandum sa President para ma-aprubahan. Irerelease na rin ‘yan sa LGUs sa ating lalawigan ng Bataan at Laguna,” Toledo said.

The agency would release P10.98 billion of funds to distribute as ECQ ayuda for the residents of Metro Manila starting Wednesday (August 11, 2021). The DBM official explained that the funds came from the certified savings of fiscal year 2020.
