Alden Richards Takes a Swipe at Perceived Double Standards After Romualdez Arrest
ALDEN RICHARDS – Kapuso star Alden Richards seemingly sent a strong message about justice and inequality following the reported arrest of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards has once again expressed his frustration over corruption and alleged theft involving government funds, this time seemingly reacting to the reported arrest of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The Kapuso superstar took to Instagram to repost an art card featuring a photo of Romualdez lying on a hospital bed. The post appeared to highlight what Alden seemingly viewed as a contrast between how authorities treat wealthy and powerful individuals compared with ordinary and less fortunate people.
Romualdez was reportedly confined at Cardinal Santos Medical Center after experiencing health issues following his arrest over a plunder case allegedly connected to anomalous flood control projects and national budget insertions.
In the photo shared by Alden, Romualdez can be seen wearing an orange shirt associated with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), which was reportedly used for his mugshot.
The art card reposted by Alden carried the statements, “Bilyun-bilyong pera ang ninakaw.
“Nagka-anxiety, pinayagang manatili sa ospital.”
The post also featured a screenshot of an elderly man reportedly detained in Cebu after allegedly begging for money to provide food for his grandchild. According to the post, the elderly man was allegedly beaten before being jailed.
The caption accompanying the image read, “Lolo, namalimos para may maipakain sa apo, binugbog, ikinulong.”
Alden did not add his own written caption to the Instagram post. However, his decision to share the art card appeared to speak for itself, with the comparison drawing attention to the perceived disparity in the treatment of people depending on their social and economic circumstances.
The actor and television host has previously been vocal about social and national issues, and his latest post once again sparked discussion among social media users.
By reposting the comparison between Romualdez’s reported hospitalization and the elderly man’s alleged experience, Alden appeared to question whether justice and compassion are being applied equally to everyone, regardless of wealth or position.
