US Government Mulls on Measures To Implement in Case It Would Lift the Travel Bans

US GOVERNMENT – The United States government is planning to make full vaccination a requirement for foreign visitors’ entry to the country.

It has been more than a year now since the COVID-19 pandemic started shaking healthcare systems across the globe. The challenge was doubled following the detection of new mutations of the coronavirus.

Currently, the Delta variant which was first logged in India is the variant of concern. Its higher transmissibility is causing an alarm in several countries. It led to massive deaths in India after the country’s healthcare system collapsed amid the surge.

Indonesia, Malaysia, and several other nations are also experiencing a spike in their COVID-19 cases now due to the Delta variant. Several nations are currently implementing travel bans.

The United States is one of the countries that extended its travel restrictions. US which is the nation that logged the most COVID-19 cases across the globe recorded Delta cases.

Based on a report on Reuters, the US government is planning to require foreign visitors in the country to be fully vaccinated to be allowed entry. A White House official said that the government wants to re-open travel.

According to the official, the US government has teams that work on a new system ready in case the travel would reopen with limited exemptions on the measures. One of those that need to be discussed is with regards to requiring foreign visitors full vaccination like the vaccination proof accepted.

Currently, the country is not allowing the entry of travelers who have been to the United Kingdom, China, South Africa, Brazil, Iran, India, Ireland, and the 26 Schengen nations in Europe without border controls within the last 14 days prior to their arrival to the United States.
