QC Mayor Joy Belmonte Congratulatory Poster for Hidilyn Diaz is Allegedly Fake
The Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte denies and claimed that the congratulatory poster for Hidilyn Diaz with her large image is fake.
Recently poster of QC Mayor congratulating Hidilyn Diaz for winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Summer Olympics make rounds on Facebook after her face was larger than the gold medalist’s. However, Mayor Joy Belmonte denied that the spreading congratulatory poster was not from her office.
“While it is true that I join the rest of the country in celebrating the historic Olympic gold medal win of Hidilyn Diaz, it is absolutely untrue that the fake ‘congratulatory message’ using my picture came from me, or anyone from the Quezon City government,” Belmonte said.
“Nagkaisa ang buong bansa dahil sa karangalang ibinigay niya sa bawat Pilipino, ngunit ginamit ninyo ito para sa masamang pamumulitika. ‘Foul’ po ang tawag diyan,” she added.

Meanwhile, QC Mayor set the defamation poster aside and commends the hard work of Hidilyn for lifting the country in Olympics. “Let us all continue to unite behind the spirit and ideals that Hidilyn exemplified, as she symbolically lifted an entire country last July 26: diligence, determination, patriotism, and the will and passion to achieve her dreams.”
Meanwhile, Rhemuel Lunio, the dancer-choreographer DJ Loonyo, slams the bogus story in which he purportedly criticizes Hidilyn Diaz’s gold medal achievement at the Olympics. A quote card allegedly carrying DJ Loonyo’s supposed statement against the new Pinoy pride was uploaded by a Facebook page with the user name “Bakkler.”
Rather than honoring Hidilyn, she allegedly referred to the Olympic gold medallist as a “poison Filipino.” Hidilyn is chastised in the statement for preferring cheap money over respectable work.
“CONGRATS HIDILYN PERO ISA KANG EXAMPLE NG TOXIC FILIPINO. PEOPLE NOWADAYS NGA NAMAN, MAS PIPILIIN ANG EASY MONEY KAYSA MAGTRABAHO NANG MARANGAL. YUNG IBA DYAN KAYOD-KALABAW TAPOS IKAW UMAASA LANG SA BIGAY?” wrote on the said statement of DJ Loonyo
As a result, some people asked DJ Loonyo if his allegations against Hidilyn were accurate. DJ Loonyo expressed his rage and indignation against fake news on his official Facebook page on July 28.
